Binding Wood 04:29
The Binding Wood Written at Hawkfest GA, Dragonhills 4/2015 © G. LaMonte Strike the corners - Call the quarters Unfurl your banners - And peace-tie your blades Lord and Lady - Ancient Grove Silent Witness - To promises made And into the binding wood we shall go Blessings of sky and blessings of stone Blessings of dew and the flame as it grows And into the binding wood we shall go Eye to eye - Sacred round Outside time - Unbound by space Hand to hand - We share this joy With friend and forest - And Goddess’ grace And into the binding wood we shall go Blessings of sky and blessings of stone Blessings of dew and the flame as it grows And into the binding wood we shall go Hand in hand - My heart to yours Love will bind us - Forever and a day Kiss and embrace - As Lady and Lord I’ll be your chalice - You be my blade And into the binding wood we shall go Blessings of sky and blessings of stone Blessings of dew and the flame as it grows And into the binding wood we shall go

I Remember Love © G. LaMonte 2/2015 I remember when we were starlight I remember the fall I remember you promised you’d catch me And I remember forgetting it all I remember I promised To forget, to begin something new And the fear as I neared the illusion When I wouldn’t be me, and you wouldn’t be you I remember Love I wandered without understanding And I traveled the world round and round Oh, the journey’s the thrill, and I couldn’t stand still Till you whispered it’s time to slow down The moment you were torn from my body And placed there at my breast I remembered when we were starlight And now I remember the rest I remember Love How could I forget The light of our souls And the dance between stars No time, no space Every bit of it ours I remember Love I learned to grow where I’m planted And you learned that home’s where you dance And the soul that we shared, and the lives that we’ve dared Love is worth taking that chance I remember Love How could I forget The light of our souls And the dance between stars No time, no space Every bit of it ours I remember Love I remember Love I remember Love

Collapse 04:50
Collapse © 7/2015 G. LaMonte (to Julie from Julie’s Dad) Leavin’ footprints in the stardust That paves this ancient road Sometimes I get to say goodbye Sometimes I don’t Sometimes I leave before you wake Sometimes I stay too long But there’s an “I love you” between the lines Of all that I’ve done wrong I wasn’t made for missing you My soul is best in flight The Ancient Ones are calling me To get their stories right We’re all made of stardust And when the light dims fast We will find each other’s imprint In eternity’s collapse You don’t have to wait for me We are so much more than this eternity And you and I and you and I and you and I and you and I Will dance In eternity’s collapse So, live life like you mean it As I have surely done And somewhere down that stardust road We will be the Ancient Ones We’ll show up in another’s dreams And they will write us down And we will live forever As our love does here and now You don’t have to wait for me We are so much more than this eternity And you and I and you and I and you and I and you and I Will dance In eternity’s collapse We’ll be dancing when time disappears As we danced before the start Every step I take along this road Is a love note to your heart And you and I and you and I and you and I and you and I Will dance And you and I and you and I and you and I and you and I Will dance In eternity’s collapse

The Empress Down Rattlesnake Road © 10/2014 G. LaMonte – written at Dragon Hills Samhein Festival 2014 Dead end, standin’ on a one-way street Nothin’ risin’ but these blisters on my feet The sun can’t reach my soul, and my heart has lost its beat Can’t cry for Mama – she don’t know me anymore Daddy’s ashes long been scattered off that shore Feelin’ like an orphan, bitter to the core Can’t get no darker, and I’ve never been so lost When I feel her eyes upon me, and I’m measurin’ the cost She’s starin’ through the screen door, and it’s clear she wants my soul … The Empress down Rattlesnake Road Her skin is black as coffee … and she can see right through (me) She said, “I can hear your soul cry. I’ve been waitin’ here for you. “When you’re ready to surrender, and that’s all that’s left to do.” I sat and drank her sweet tea, while the flies buzzed all around. Her fingers grazed my spirit, all bayou swamped and bound. I gave myself to her many arms on this unfamiliar ground. Can’t get no darker, and I’ve never been so lost. When I feel her hands upon me, and the fire burns like frost. She’s reachin’ deep inside me, and it’s clear she’ll take my soul. … The Empress down Rattlesnake Road. BRIDGE: I know this ain’t what you been hopin’. I break the things that need to be broken. I’m gonna crack your spirit wide open … and let the light shine. She bathed me in that light as she remade (me) Into all that was and was not … oh, I prayed Until everything I was not fell away. Then the Empress climbed right out of my head. I cried, “Was it somethin’ I said?” “Oh, child, you have outgrown my bed! For now …” Can’t get no darker – never felt so damned alone. She drank my tears and sorrow like honey from the comb. Getting’ on with my life – she kept a piece of my soul. I loved the Empress down Rattlesnake Road. BRIDGE

Between 04:07
Between Written at MoonDance 5/2015 © G. LaMonte Somewhere between the boy and the girl Between truth and pain Somewhere between confusion and sure That this soul will burn in that flame Somewhere between the heart and the mind And the feeling that something’s so wrong The body betrays, and no words can say Who’s been here all along Somewhere between the woman and man The world out there and the real deep inside Livin’ between is no way to live But you do what you must to survive Somewhere between their religion And the Spirit Divine in your breast Caught up all in that illusion That what everyone else thinks is best CHORUS/BRIDGE Yesterday’s shame, it has shaped me Tomorrow’s a day to come clean Today – will you love me Please, don’t judge me I’m just learning to love me And I’m not ready yet to be seen Let me stay here, hidden … between Somewhere between who I have been And the person I’m learning to be I’ve got to live this, don’t need your forgiveness I’ll make no apology CHORUS/BRIDGE

Grandmother Tree Written by Mama Gina at Summerland / Yule Like It 12/2012 Grandmother stands with her daughters - some of them fallen and some of them true Depends on the rain and the sunlight that flows - if her footsteps take ten years or two She walks and she reaches – her roots and her limbs embracing the weak on the way She journeys from center – oh, outward she spins – she travels and ever she stays She was born of her mother who fell in a storm of fire that crackled with light An orphan, she reached for the roots of her kin and slumbered a long winter’s night She drank in their mem’ries, she swallowed their bones and awoke in the spring to the Sun Oh, the light that can kill you can also bring hope, and a grandmother she would become Call her goddess Call her ancient one The woman who walks in the wood She is crone of the grove Leaf, root and limb She still stands wherever she stood She spider, the beetle, the burrowing folk – the coon and the doe and the bear They leave their mark, she erases in time as if they never were there The cricket, the frog, the falcon, the wren raise their Voice in continuous ohm Their lives all too short for her to attend, yet Grandmother Tree is their home Call her goddess Call her ancient one The woman who walks in the wood She is crone of the grove Leaf, root and limb She still stands wherever she stood Now the path has been paved and the travelers it brings mark their progress in seconds, not years But their roots will not hold through the aeons, she knows, and Grandmother’s shedding no tears Oh, they may revere her or stand at her guard; they may wield the blade that hastens her fall She slumbers and sings a green lullaby soft to the child at her heart who will outlive them all Call her goddess Call her ancient one The woman who walks in the wood She is crone of the grove Leaf, root and limb She still stands wherever she stood © G. LaMonte 12/2012
